📝 Job Summary

As the Food and Agribusiness Officer, you will lead the development and implementation of initiatives that support sustainable growth across Cardinia Shire’s agricultural, food, and beverage sectors. This role is key in connecting local producers with industry and government stakeholders to promote innovation, sustainability, and economic resilience.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Development:
  Implement the Food Strategy and Agribusiness Audit Report to guide sector growth and sustainability.
• Industry Engagement:
  Build collaborative relationships with local agribusinesses, food producers, industry groups, and government bodies.
• Project & Policy Management:
  Contribute to and support policy creation, economic development strategies, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Investment & Workforce Development:
  Promote initiatives to attract investment, boost job creation, and enhance workforce capabilities in the food and agribusiness sectors.
• Sustainable Practices & Land Use Planning:
  Provide advice on sustainable agriculture and align initiatives with green wedge management plans and local planning frameworks.
• Advocacy & Funding:
  Prepare funding submissions and leverage government programs to support industry development.

✅ Qualifications & Skills Required

• Tertiary qualifications in Agribusiness, Food Systems, Agriculture, Economic Development, or a related field.
• Proven experience in agribusiness or food industry development.
• Knowledge of local and state planning frameworks, especially in agriculture and land use.
• Strong understanding of sustainable farming practices and food system trends.
• Experience in government programs and funding acquisition.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability in strategic planning, project management, and policy development.
