Position Summary: Driver
As a Driver, you will play a vital role in our distribution operations by safely transporting materials to customer and vendor locations. Your role includes loading and unloading trucks, managing delivery documentation, and acting as a positive ambassador of the EMCO brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate EMCO delivery trucks safely, in compliance with company policies and provincial transportation regulations
- Load and unload trucks with customer orders, ensuring all materials are secure and protected during transit
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and report mechanical concerns promptly
- Interpret shipping documentation, including safety labels (e.g., GHS) for hazardous materials
- Make timely deliveries to job sites, customer facilities, and vendor locations, ensuring courteous and professional interactions
- Address shipping discrepancies and report customer feedback to the Profit Centre Manager or Warehouse Supervisor
- Maintain accurate driver logs and trip documentation
- Assist with material pickups, returns, and cross-docking as needed
- Contribute to team efforts by supporting general Profit Centre operations
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Basic understanding of commercial driving laws and safety regulations
- Ability to lift, move, and load heavy materials safely
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm demeanor under pressure and in emergency situations
- Willingness to learn and operate material handling equipment
Preferred Assets:
- Previous experience in delivery driving or distribution/logistics
- Familiarity with plumbing or building materials
- Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act
- Experience with business software including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Trend
